Buxton flurry

Saturday, January 25, 2020

Renowned for its bleak winter weather, Buxton can actually look very picturesque and quaint after a light dusting.  In this instance,  within a few hours all traces of snow had gone.

I remember the winter of 2010 being pretty bad here but apparently 1947 in Buxton was branded 'the longest and harshest in the town's history'.

Buxton - Pavilion Gardens Park

Friday, January 24, 2020

Although it's winter, the local park has some really interesting things to see (and photograph), from trees looking like some kind of intricate nervous system silhouetted against the sky, to lonely park benches that have seen far better days and company.

Indeed, Buxton's Pavilion Gardens park is truly a wonderful place to walk around and enjoy nature's beauty - for free.

In fact, for a summer family day out, there's plenty to see and do including a miniature Railway, play areas, nearby facilities / kiosk, bandstand and much more.

Highly recommended.
